Ronnally's Pizza - Woodbury

I drive by Ronnally's Pizza weekly but I've never read or heard anything about them. Curiosity finally got the best of me and I stopped in. Walking into Ronally's was like walking back into the 70s with it's wood panel walls and brass finished ceiling fans. It's semi-dark and it could be categorized as a semi-hole in the wall, catering to what appears to be mainly locals.

Besides pizza's, Ronnally's also serves a variety of sandwiches and pasta dishes. I ordered the 9 in. cheese pizza ($6.15). While I really don't favor cheese pizza, I've learned that it serves as the acid test of good pizza as mentioned in prevous posts.

The cheese was a tad on the heavy side and the tomato sauce had a tartness that caused my mouth to pucker just a bit when I hit a pocket of sauce. The 3/16 in. thick crust had a crunchy bottom with a slightly chewy center. The crust was decent but fairly nondescript. Nonetheless with each bite, I enjoyed the pizza more, kind of a synergy thing.

In the front display case are several framed magazine covers with Ronally's awarded best pizza in the suburbs. As I've said before, pizza is highly personal. For me, it was a decent pizza, nothing extraordinary, and a little costly for what it was. Would I stop in again? Definitely but it won't be frequent.
