Turitto's Pizza & Subs - Inver Grove Heights, MN

A perquisite of working lunches is the free food and lately around here, we've had more working lunches than not. For the past few months, it seems we've had Turitto's pizza weekly. Usually several different pizzas were brought in from the lowly sausage pizza to the deluxe or supreme style pizza. Pictured above are a few slices of pizza with sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms.

Every time I had some, I was left with the same impression about the pizza: that it's consistently good. What I have noted about their pizzas is that it is more on the heavy side with a thick layer of cheese, the chunk sized sausage provides a nice spicy kick, the tomato sauce has a slight tartness to complement the sausage, the thin crust is a tad above average, and they provide generous amounts of toppings.

If I haven't mentioned in previous posts, pizza preferences are intensely personal. Comparing Turrito's to Cosetta's, I like Turitto's sausage significantly better than Cosetta's offering but overall Turitto's rates 0.2 points less than Cosetta's because Cosetta's crust, which I believe is the key component in distinguishing good from great, is better.

For a pizza fan and the casual pizza eater, Turitto's pizza is definitely worthwhile.

Food: 8.2
Scrooge Value: There's no such thing as a free lunch.

I wish I was paid for writing. Unfortunately, I'm not paid by anyone or any establish.

Sorry to hear about your dealings. We may be a a lucky group. Our group has probably ordered over 50 pizzas in the first 6 months of the year. If anyone's complaining, I hadn't heard it and the empty boxes are testimony that the pizzas must be OK.
